Annual Winter luncheon

Sunday,13th of July. Festivities begin with a service in St.John's at 10.00am, followed by lunch in the hall.

PRAYER SERVICE

The inaugural ecumenical prayer service, praying for Christian Unity was held in the Sydney Catholic University in Strathfield, on Wednesday, May 14th. Pastor Colvin MacPherson attended, along with Pastor Geoff Stevenson (Uniting Church); Father Mathew (Coptic Orthodox Church) and Father Jack Evans (Roman Catholic). There was a beautiful Spirit of Unity and a desire to break down barriers between Churches.

DISABLED ACCESS

Construction of a disabled access ramp into the Church Hall began on Monday 14th of April. To view progress photos click here.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

About four times a year we celebrate members birthdays during after service coffee. Those who have reached significant milestones are greeted with flowers and Latvian yellow bread. The last such occasion was on April 20th. Two weeks later we celebrated our Vicars 30th birthday and also the president of the ladies association turned 70. To view photos click here.

100 Years young!

On Sunday 30th of March, our oldest living member, Elza Celinskis celebrated her 100th birthday (31st March), with a luncheon in the Church hall. Dean Colvin MacPherson greeted her and led the congregation in a prayer of thanksgiving. Elza received messages from the Queen, Her Majesty Elizabeth II; as well as the Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon. Kevin Rudd, the premier of NSW, Mr Morris Iemma and the president of Latvia.

Easter Confirmation service

On Sunday 23rd March, Easter was celebrated with a service which included a confirmation ceremony for two of our young people. To view photos please click here.

Archbishop E.E.Rozitis has been re-elected for a seven year term. We congratulate him and wish him every blessing.
